DAHLIA LEEDS
Pretty little flower / Blodyn
The last thing Daisy expected upon coming here was to find herself in another serious relationship, but here they are—not just together, but living together half the time. Daisy sees echoes of herself, in Dahlia. It's hard not to. The pretty face that hides a the monster beneath, the well-trained facade of something more innocent than you are. The struggle between your obligate nature and wanting to be something more. Dahlia's situation is trickier, worse for the fact that she had no choice in being what she is, and Daisy finds that she wants to help where she can, to protect her, to be someone she can lean on. But more than that, she's impressed by how well Dahlia's grown into herself since the truth came out; she started fighting for a life of her own far faster than Daisy herself ever managed, she thinks.
Valdis
Inhuman Morality
Daisy's never quite sure how to class her relationship with Valdis. Pack, definitely. Friends, probably. But she's always struggled to fully relax around people that can hit harder than she can and Valdis is one of the only people around who can—though it helps that she's one of the few that could take Valdis down, too. But they've talked a lot about the nature of what they are and Daisy already knows better than to try and bullshit her, so she doesn't. Usually. And it seems like Valdis respects her too, because otherwise there's no chance in hell she'd have listened to her during her emotional outburst after Max left. Maybe that mutual respect is what matters most.
FEVER
Hearing the blood
Fever understands in a way few others do, and is one of an even slimmer number of people who Daisy feels comfortable being vulnerable around. It's not something she ever expected, not with the way Fever reeks so strongly of Slaughter, but the fact is they're more alike than they are different. The feeling of being compelled to enact violence, always being one mistake away from losing control and lashing out, holds them both in a vice grip that will never truly let go. It'll never be easy, it'll never be fixed, but at least they're not alone. In that, or in many other things. Women like them need people who get what it's like to be women like them, in life as much as in the trail of death that runs behind them.
Jonathan Sims / The Archivist
Out of sync
Jon is her best friend. It feels almost childish to say it like that, like something you say on the playground—who the fuck has best friends in their forties? But it's true. From such a violent past to a calmer present where being monsters is just... a part of who they are, a part they have to deal with daily but that they can deal with together. Maybe they're not always the best influences on each other, but being a monster is difficult, like that. He was the first person to really understand and now he's lived it through to the end, he know better than almost anyone just how important having this second chance feels. Now she just has to nail him down to force him to listen to more of the Archers with her.
Basira Hussain
Everything and Nothing
The last year and change has been a whirlwind. From the messy, early days where it felt like talking about anything was like pulling teeth, to now where the biggest secrets are all out in the air and they're... married. Married. Maybe that's insane. Maybe it was moving too fast. But how can it be, after so many years of dancing around the truth? This is their second chance. Their real second chance, not like those horrible, tense months of borrowed time after the Buried. Daisy loves Basira. She has loved her for almost as long as she's known her, and she's tired of pretending otherwise just because she's scared it would hurt. It hurt anyway. It hurt infinitely more to hide from it than it does to embrace it. One way or another, they're going to be together until the end. She will make sure of it.
Gerard "Gerry" Keay
Magnus Bullshit Solidarity
She doesn't know him all that well yet, but Gerard is an interesting one to know. It's rare she runs into someone involved in her world's bullshit that she wasn't already familiar with and Gerard comes from an era before Jon's, providing a perspective she's not had before. He seems to have a good head on his shoulders and a sense of humour she can appreciate.
Martin Blackwood
Lonely one
Daisy's not quite sure where she really stands with Martin. The last impression he had of her she was still a feral cop who'd threatened him and his friends multiple times, whilst the last conversation she had with him he was lashing out from within the Lonely's grasp. But he's important to Jon, so she intends to be on her best behaviour one way or another.
Cassandra De Rolo
Eye for an eye
Talking to Cassandra feels like playing chess without all your pieces. There's a vicious streak under the youthful, aristocratic face, Daisy thinks—or at least, there's a streak of something far sharper than just a silver tongue. Even when their life is at risk, Daisy hasn't known a lot of prey that will stab you in the face to try and get away.
Lord Erik Osborne
Self-recognition (derogatory)
She hates Erik on principle, but she also sort of respects him on principle, which makes dealing with him doubly annoying. The version of him in Max's memories helped her in ways she can't deny, she knows there's more to him than the smug rich asshole vampire who kept Max as a pet, but he's still a bastard. Their relationship mostly consists of petty jabs and mean girl behaviour, which is alright by her. Having someone to be a little bitch at is good for the soul. She just hopes he never finds out she technically swore him loyalty...
Phil Connors
Call it even
Things with Phil got off to a rocky start, to say the least—she really has got to stop making friends by trying to murder them, first. But she feels like she can call them friends, now. Phil isn't some monster, but he understands what it means to claw your way up from rock bottom, fighting for every inch. He's a better person than Daisy will ever be and Daisy admires him, for that. He had no reason to give her the grace he did, but she'll do her best to live up to the second chance.
Darcy LeJeune
Smug-arse brat
They're never going to get on. Daisy doesn't do well with teenagers in the first place, but Darcy's never going to stop holding the rampage against her and Daisy wouldn't expect them to. Still, she has a begrudging sort of respect for their guts, practicality and stubbornness, even if their attitude does annoy the fuck out of her sometimes. She's going to do her best not to provoke them, at least.
Dimitri Blaiddyd
I know your kind of monster
Another youngun she's never going to get on with. Using his partner against him is the kind of mark no one forgets, but that's not news. The interesting part is how she gets the feeling they've got all the wrong things in common. Like two aggressive animals looking at their own reflection and lashing out at it. He's got a lot of fight in him, though, she'll give him that.
ERIN PETERS
Cariad
She's not here anymore, but they'd come a long way from the days where Daisy rejected every offer of genuine care on reflex. A part of Daisy always still expected the other shoe to drop, for taking the risk on love to become just another knife to her throat, but that fear wasn't enough to make her cut and run. Erin was one of the first people to really understand her and without her influence, Daisy wouldn't have made it to the place of stability she's reached today. She loves her more than she knows how to say.
MAX MAXIMUM
Overgrown puppy
Max was become the brother that Daisy never had, nor realised she wanted. He could hardly be more different from her in so many ways, especially when it comes to violence and damage done, but he never made her feel judged for it—even when maybe she should've been. Protecting him comes above her own life and it's reassuring to know that, if she tells him to, he'll save himself. Spending time with him is easy as breathing and, until he left, his cooking was the only real food she can enjoy eating.

hunt sense permissions

hadnoright: (Default)
Daisy is an Avatar of the Hunt, which means a lot of things but in terms of interaction with others, the most important is it gives her a very heightened sense of smell that, as well as the obvious things, can also pick up on details like:
- If someone is non-human/a monster/left of human.
- What Fears someone has been touched and/or traumatised by in their life.
- What Fears someone may cause or act in service of.
- Other supernatural things you might find it fun for her to get a whiff of.

A list of the entities and examples of what they cover below. There's just about every kind of horror represented somewhere in here, so be warned for discussion of various upsetting topics. (You can also always message me to discuss and hash things out if you want to! If I didn't enjoy thinking about what Fears apply to characters, I wouldn't be playing Daisy like this.)

ACTIVE TIMES/PACE:UK (BST or GMT), but I stay up stupid late; speed varies from boomeranging to a few days most of the time.
BRACKETS/PROSE: Either depending on partner and what I’m feeling. Will match.
OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS: Nothing to outright avoid, but warnings for anything relating to death by cancer would be appreciated.

IN CHARACTER

PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Unless you're already close or she initiates/invites it, then this is at your own risk.
PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Daisy is still easier to push to violence than she'd like to be, and very deadly when she wants to be by nature of being a Hunt avatar. Definitely down, but discussion needed.
RELATIONSHIPS: Let’s talk, this woman may come with more baggage than a full airplane though. May be open to hook-ups, though; women only.
PSYCHIC & PSIONIC INFORMATION: No actual defences or powers of her own, but if you try to get in her head she may react badly.
MAGICAL INFORMATION: Does not have magic, does not like magic, but is not totally human. She has a heightened sense of smell/can smell certain things on a person, so lmk what that might be HERE.
MEDICAL INFORMATION: Daisy's stronger than she looks, as her strength isn't reliant entirely on her actual muscle mass, but she's been struggling to eat and metaphysically starving herself on and off. Heals faster than normal humans.
OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS: Daisy is an ex-cop who actively participated in police brutality. Supposedly, most of her actual murder was targeted at other people touched by the Entities, but in practice, her violence was aimed at everyone. She's actively acknowledged that she was a terrible person that no one has to forgive and is trying to do better, but this is kind of a core part of her character arc in general. Besides this, she also does have a lot of low level suicidal ideation and occasional dips into self-harm. Opt-out under this post if you don't want to deal with this, or Daisy at all. Comments screened.

OUT OF CHARACTER

BACKTAGGING: I’ll generally backtag as long as someone else is willing, but occasionally I'll have to drop a thread that it's been too long on and I don't begrudge threads needing to be dropped.
THREADHOPPING: Ask first.
FOURTHWALLING: Ask first, probably not though.
NOT INTERESTED IN:

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

VISUAL: 5'2" white woman with chin-length blonde hair, either styled neatly or left scruffy depending on how put together she's feeling, and wolf-yellow eyes. She's stronger than she looks due to being a Hunt Avatar, but depending on how long it's been since she Hunted she can look malnourished. Has a nasty starburst scar on her back from a metal fence post that she still thinks of as a daisy, plus multiple other scars. Favours nice but practical clothes, liking to appear soft and pretty to hide the violence underneath. Daisy earrings. Nail polish, often chipped.
AURAL: Welsh as fuck. Fairly monotone a lot of the time unless she's angry.
OLFACTORY: Will wear perfume when she can get her hands on it, otherwise you might occasionally catch a whiff of... blood? Those with the ability to sniff out the supernatural will catch that she's not quite human, though. She's specifically a predator.
DEMEANOUR: Daisy likes to put herself forward in a deliberately contrasting way, soft and pretty visuals to disguise the strength and violence beneath. She holds herself like she's ready to attack and her general attitude ranges from dry to outright aggro. She's rarely smiling, unless it's smirking or flashing her teeth. There's something about her that is always a little animal-like.
