Daisy's rambling doesn't at all prepare him for the scattered difficult topics in the middle of that. The ordeal with Dahlia, of course, was to be expected, and he isn't exactly shocked that she's been dealing with that. He hasn't seen her in town all that often, and their sending stone calls have been short, scarce check-ins more than conversations.
What he hadn't expected to hear, however, was that Basira entered the equation at some point in the middle of all of this. As if things weren't already complicated enough. (He is, of course, not going to say as much.)
He is a bit tentative when he does speak back up, though, clearly sounding shocked and like he is working overtime at trying to carefully pick his words.
"Wow, that is... a lot to be dealing with at once, Daisy." Astute observation, Mr. Sims, try again. "No wonder you've been everywhere and nowhere for some time now. ...Are you sure you don't want me to go get those drinks before I get you any further into all of this?"
He's trying to joke about it, keep the tone light, but he is so very aware that this is going to be so much. They might as well find a way to keep the tone not quite so bleak, right?
